Our Wedding

Sometimes, love begins in the most unexpected places—like an elementary school. Nicolo and Madison first crossed paths while both working at Arboga Elementary School. Nicolo was a fourth-grade teacher, while Madison ran the after school program called “STARS”. But before they even had the chance to meet, fate was already working in the background. The school principal, who was also a family friend of Madison, called her and her mom into his office one day to suggest that she meet Nicolo. Madison took a hard pass at the time . . .&nbsp; To say their story started off unconventionally would be an understatement. Nicolo, known for his sense of humor and lighthearted personality, made it his mission to get to know Madison. He would crack jokes and try to start conversations, but Madison wasn’t quite sure what to think of Nicolo. Nicolo, ever the gentleman, made his first strong impression upon Madison when he had complaints about the after school program’s use of his classroom. Madison did not take kindly to Nicolo blaming her students for things. She’s a proud mama bear. Madison, determined to defend her students, conducted her own investigation and concluded that her kids were innocent. Nicolo, however, still is unsure who broke the table in his library. The problem is perhaps that Nicolo’s students were the same students Madison had after school, and perhaps they were playing us both hmmmmmm. . . . (Or they just liked Madison more she prefers to think) Despite the rocky start, Nicolo never gave up trying to connect with Madison, albeit he wasn’t very good at it. Eventually, Madison began to gain a more holistic impression of Nicolo. His persistence, humor, and kind-heartedness started to win her over. One day, Nicolo brought her star bread that he had borrowed (or, more accurately, stolen) from a friend, claiming it was “Star bread for his favorite STARS lead”. Madison was so surprised by the gesture that she forgot to thank him in the moment. Later that evening, she emailed him to show her appreciation. What followed was an email thread that changed everything. Nicolo cleverly tried to strike up conversation by asking Madison about her weekend plans. When she mentioned that she was going axe throwing (which, by the way, he made her lose because she was getting giddy with their emails and texts), Nicolo casually suggested they go together sometime and tried texting the number in her work email signature, which turned out to be a school phone. When Nicolo frantically tried to play that off over email, Madison, seeing his nervousness, playfully responded, “If you want my number, just ask.” After that Friday night, Nicolo and Madison began talking every day. They stayed up late chatting and spent more and more time together. Nicolo even started joining Madison for lunch at work each day. Their first official date was, of course, axe throwing—a fitting nod to the conversation that started it all. The axe throwing business fell through (the bartender was blasting his favorite techno music, dancing the robot, and never came over to help us), so Madison and Nicolo had a movie date instead. That night was full of laughter, lighthearted moments, and the kind of connection that hinted at something truly special.&nbsp; From that moment on, their love story blossomed. Nicolo stayed every day through the entire after school program to spend more time with Madison. Squiggles &amp; Dennis (Nicolo’s dog &amp; cat) quickly (immediately) took to adoring Madison more than they’d ever adore Nicolo. Nicolo asked Madison’s mom Shanon more and more often if Madison was allowed to spend the night at his apartment, and eventually earned her blessing for her to move in with him. In November of 2023, Nicolo stole the after school program’s phone one weekend and used it in a proposal&nbsp;on the cliffs above the ocean in Mendocino. In the fall of 2024, Nicolo and Madison bought their first house together and Squiggles now has the yard he deserves. Looking back, it’s funny to think that this love story almost didn’t happen, but Nicolo’s persistence and humor—and maybe a little STAR bread—made all the difference. Now, they can’t wait to celebrate their next chapter surrounded by family and friends.

Sierrah is Madison’s older sister. Ever since they were little, they’ve basically been glued at the hip. Whether it was putting on full Cheetah Girls concerts in the living room or doing martial arts together (and on each other). Madison could not imagine not having her by her side for this big moment.

Gabrielle is Madison's childhood best friend. Madison, Gabby, and Sierrah were always together. Whether they were having sleep overs at Gabby's house or at their house- they were all inseparable. Madison and Gabby can always count on each other and are always there for each other even if they live in different states. Madison could not ask for a better friend.

Amanda and Madison first met in college while working at Chick-fil-A. Amanda was Madison's first college friend and for that she is forever grateful. Amanda is the type of person that everybody needs in their life. She is constantly keeping Madison in check when she needs it, and supporting her like no other. Madison and Amanda's favorite memory of their friendship is when they tried to reenact the Dirty Dancing lift during Friendsgiving and failed epically. But one day they will master that move!

From the moment Madison met Kelina, she knew she was going to love having her as a sister-in-law. Kelina is so kind, creative, and thoughtful, and she always knows how to make people laugh. One of Madison’s favorite memories with her is when she, Nicolo, and Kelina went out to eat at Pizza Supreme Being and ended up laughing the entire night. No serious conversation was had, just nonstop laughter and good pizza. Honestly the best kind of night!

Alyssa and Madison first met while working at Arboga School being the After School Program leaders. Madison and Alyssa instantly hit it off since the beginning and have been good friends ever since. Madison, Nicolo, and Alyssa's family are always getting together for family dinners, Christmas, Birthday parties, or her kiddos school/sport events. Madison and Nicolo adore Alyssa's two kids ( Ryan and Christopher) they think of them as their godchildren. Their favorite thing to do with the Recinos family is family dinners at Red Robin- we are all guaranteed to laugh the entire night and enjoy some good company and food.

Madison and Tehya met at Lincrest school. They are both 5th grade teachers and they could not be more alike. Madison and Tey describe themselves as the Silly Goose Teachers. They enjoy being the youngest goofiest teachers at Lincrest. Madison and Tey are always together- they are either hanging out in each other classrooms or driving to go get lunch together (POTATO WEDGES!!!) Madison is so happy that she met Tehya and that they have an incredible bond and friendship.

Sinmi and Nicolo became friends while both studying at Georgetown. Nicolo, studying Psychology, did not know what an IPO was and Sinmi, a student in the business school, had serious doubts, but they've remained close friends ever since lol.

Nicolo adopted Squiggles, a Boxer–Pitbull mix, in 2018 during his college years in Washington, D.C. Squiggles is partially to fully blind, but that’s never stopped him from being the most loving fur friend. When Madison came into his life, the two quickly became inseparable. To this day, they’re the best of friends, happiest when curled up together on the couch.

Madison and Nicolo adopted Clementine, a Shepherd–Boxer mix, from their local shelter in July 2025. She’s an energetic, loving puppy who has brought endless joy (and a little bit of chaos) into their lives. Clementine and Nicolo quickly became best friends, often found side by side relaxing and playing video games. She took to Squiggles right away, and the two now spend their days playing together, though Clementine can’t resist occasionally trying to steal his food or toys.

Madison and her dad have always shared a special bond through their love of martial arts, something that’s been uniquely theirs over the years. It’s brought laughter, memories, and plenty of playful competition (though Madison still swears she’d win in a sparring match). Beyond that, it’s been a reminder of the important role he’s played in her life, the one who taught her strength, patience, and a good sense of humor. He’s always been her teacher, and now he gets the honor of walking her down the aisle.

Getting to FivePine Lodge – From Northern California (Yuba/Sutter Area) The drive to FivePine Lodge in Sisters, Oregon, takes about 7 to 8 hours and offers beautiful views the whole way! -Start by heading north on CA-70 or CA-99 toward Chico, then connect to I-5 North. -Stay on I-5 North through Redding. Once you reach Weed, CA, take the exit to merge onto US-97 North toward Klamath Falls. -Stay on US-97 North into Oregon, passing through Klamath Falls and heading toward Bend. -Just before reaching Bend, follow signs to merge onto US-20 West, which will take you directly into Sisters. Tip: Make a road trip of it! There are great stops along the way like the Mount Shasta vistas, the high desert landscapes of Klamath Falls, and the Collier Memorial State Park.
